Paul VI and the Pontifical Faculty of Educational Sciences «Auxilium»

Summary

The present study highlights the historical relationship between Paul VI and the «Auxilium», Pontifical Faculty of Educational Sciences based in Rome during the process of transformation from an International Higher Institute of Education and Religious Sciences (created in 1954) to a Pontifical Ecclesiastical Faculty, run by women. The figure of Paul VI emerges as a significant supporter of this transformation. Finally, the article recalls the Identity and Mission of the «Auxilium» Faculty: To be and work for the integral education of the person, in perfect harmony with Paul VI and with the Magisterium of the Church.

Il presente studio mette in evidenza il rapporto intercorso tra Paolo VI e la Pontificia Facoltà di Scienze dell’Educazione «Auxilium» (Roma) nell’iter di trasformazione da Istituto Internazionale Superiore di Pedagogia e Scienze Religiose (creato nel 1954) a Facoltà universitaria, pontificia ecclesiastica, gestita da donne. Ne emerge la figura di Paolo VI come sostenitore autorevole di tale trasformazione. L’articolo, infine, richiama l’identità e la mission della Facoltà «Auxilium»: essere e operare per l’educazione integrale della persona, in perfetta sintonia con Paolo VI e con il Magistero della Chiesa.

El presente estudio pone énfasis en la estrecha relación entre Pablo VI y la Pontificia Facultad de Ciencias de la Educación «Auxilium» (Roma) en el proceso de transformación del Instituto Internacional Superior de Pedagogía y Ciencias Religiosas (fundado en el 1954) a Facultad universitaria, pontificia eclesiástica, dirigida por mujeres. La figura de Pablo VI sobresale como promotor eficaz de esa transformación. Por último, el artículo recuerda la identidad y la misión de la Facultad «Auxilium»: ser y trabajar por la educación integral de la persona, en perfecta sintonía con Pablo VI y con el Magisterio de la Iglesia.
